Advisable to dry clean pure silk sarees and silk cotton sarees. Cotton sarees can be gently hand washed in cold water with mild shampoo.
Always air dry the saree in shade. Never wring the saree or use it in the washing machine or dryer. Never rub the saree vigorously.
Do not hang silk sarees in hangers.
Wrap the silk saree in a muslin cloth before storing to protect them from dust and moisture. Sarees should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Do not store silk sarees in plastic covers as this will cause the gold Zari to turn black.
Never spray perfumes directly on the fabric as it may damage the Zari and the silk.
Use dried neem leaves or lavender sachets without touching the fabric, in your wardrobe for storing silk sarees.
